Dr Zanab Malik is a registered dental specialist in Special Needs Dentistry working predominantly in the public sector as the solo Special Needs Dentist for South Western Sydney Local Health District based at Campbelltown Hospital and in private practice at the Central Coast, NSW.
Dr Malik is a clinical academic, having completed her PhD in the field of bariatric dentistry evaluating obesity stigma among dental professionals and in the dental setting. Her research interests are in the field of inclusion health. She has presented her research at several national and international conferences.
Dr Malik has held various academic positions with The University of Newcastle and is currently an honorary affiliate academic with The University of Sydney. She has been an invited external examiner for The University of Melbourne and The University of Adelaide. She has also been an examiner in Pathology for the Primary Dental Sciences examination with the RACDS since 2023.
Dr Malik is the current President of the Australia and New Zealand Academy of Special Needs Dentistry, the current secretary of the RACDS NSW/ACT regional committee and an active member of the Australian Society of Special Care in Dentistry. She has attained Fellowship with the International Association of Disability and Oral Health, the International College of Dentists and Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.
She is the founder of My Special Needs Dental Home, a digital platform which improves the oral healthcare of people with special needs.
