Dr Roberta Asher is a Dietitian and Postdoctoral Researcher at Hunter Medical Research Institute’s Nutrition and Metabolic Research Program and the University of Newcastle School of Health Sciences.
Dr Asher completed a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics in 2010. In 2024, she completed her PhD researching cooking skill development and nutrition education for people with disability using co-design methods.
Within the Diabetes Alliance Program Plus (DAP+), Dr Asher’s research explores dietary assessment and digital interventions that support and improve nutrition-related health and wellbeing for people living with diabetes.
Dr Asher’s research focusses on improving diet quality, health and wellbeing through cooking and food skill development. Working in multidisciplinary collaborations, Dr Asher has developed resources that can be used by other culinary education program developers across a range of settings and target groups to guide program planning, curriculum development and evaluation.
