Professor Ritin Fernandez is an internationally recognised expert in evidence synthesis for clinical practice.
She has received numerous awards at both national and international levels and is ranked among the top 2% of scientists worldwide. Her work bridges academia and clinical practice, addressing the pressing need for evidence-based healthcare to support complex patient needs.

A passionate advocate for evidence-informed practice, Professor Fernandez leads collaborative research projects on heart disease and diabetes with international partners. Her research in multicultural health has made a significant impact on improving cardiovascular outcomes. With deep expertise in population health, systematic reviews, meta-analysis, and quantitative methods, she has authored numerous publications in high-impact journals.

Professor Fernandez’s research portfolio also includes nurse-led models of care, digital health innovations, and initiatives to strengthen health systems through evidence-based policy. Her studies on dietary and pharmacological interventions for type 2 diabetes, telehealth in cardiac care, and tools such as SPICT™ to support palliative care planning have directly influenced clinical guidelines. She has also undertaken pioneering research into the nursing workforce, patient safety, and health professional education.

In addition to her research achievements, Professor Fernandez is committed to building research capacity within the health workforce. She has developed and teaches advanced courses in systematic reviews, meta-analysis, and quantitative research for postgraduate and doctoral students.
